It's a lazy Saturday morning and I was just sorting through my millions of photos and came across some of these thrift-store finds of mine. I can't wait til the weather gets cooler so I can dig the jackets back out again. I think I might be spending the day sorting and backing up all my photos. Temperature is supposed to soar to the triple digits today so it's a good day to stay inside and catch up on some things I've been putting off.
Carol Little Denim Jacket
I have several denim jackets. I'd like to try my hand at 'embellishing' one myself.
Faux fur jacket. I love the poofy stand up collar.
Mint condition faux fur short jacket I found on the floor at Goodwill under the racks.
Probably a 1970's 80's London Fog all-weather coat. It has HUGE padded shoulders. It's marked as extra-small, but it's very roomy. It still has the zippered removable liner inside as well. Very pretty cobalt shiny blue with great detail.
This jacket has a lot of rick-rack on the front and the back. Very pretty.
This is a Liz Claiborne velvet jacket. It still had the original price tag in it when I got it at Goodwill. Go figure!
This is a great turtle-neck that can be worn all the way up, folded over, or if you unbutton the shoulder it becomes a dressy collar.
This was one of my luckier finds. A reversible animal print hooded windbreaker. the collar can either be worn down, or rolled up to make a hood. The Goodwill price tag was still in the pocket. $3.99. Awesome jacket.
Here it is reversed and with the hood up. (Remember 'Sabrina'?)
This is a Kasper jacket with animal print collar. Another great find.
Beautiful red 'MIA' boots someone gave away. They look brand new.
A few years ago, I went crazy over confetti lucite chunky bracelets. I have quite a few of them. I should do an entire post on my collection. I actually got this one on eBay.
I need to get creative or productive for the rest of the weekend. Enjoy and stay cool!
Diana...have you ever thought about...staring a lil' "Donation-give-away-thingie...for some of the m-a-n-y cloths you have ovbiously stocked up over the years? Some of the very pretty out dated ones...would mean a lot to the..."Not-haves" of the world...before Tim an I moved...and had our estate sale...I too...was just like you...I had three closets, bursting with awesome finds...I took tons of bxes to different nursing homes...just seeing the excitement on their faces...was priceless...and a lot of it...went to the nurses aids...and their families...Tim's old golf shirts...was a big win...it's just amazing how mush...one can accumulate. Not to mention...it feels soooo good to do this.
ReplyDeleteBTW...my son Joe...was a big giver...he always had the best of the best...when it came to cloths...he and my daughter would tease me...and say Mother...Why do you go to all the thrift stores...when you don't have to...kids don't get it...I'd get hig...finding a great sale...as you do...but it was Joe...who taught me to give...if one of his friends like a nice...Kenneth Cole shirt he was wearing...he'd say...you can wear it...and if they looked good in it...he'd just say...wow...looks better on you...than me...and give it to them...he was like this...even before he knew his fate. He is the one...that said..."Not Haves"...unstead of...Have Nots. One of the best memories...I'll forever have...is...he was a giver.
ReplyDeleteBobbie Sue, I actually do exactly that. Talk about clothes going full circle some times...I purchase clothes at Goodwill, wear them until I'm tired of them, then either donate them back to Goodwill, or give them to people I know can put them to good use. That's what makes thrift shopping so much fun for me. The money spent at Goodwill, Upscale Retail, or Salvation Army provides jobs for the disabled, battered women, or the homeless, and the donations of the clothing back to the thrift store, give them more inventory to re-sell yet again! My husband is certain that I'll end up purchasing something I've already bought and re-donated. Oh well,,,If I liked it the first time, I'm sure to like it the second time. Thanks for pointing that out though. I hope the other readers will jump on the band wagon with thrift shopping.
