Here's another tour of a small town USA. Lindale, Texas. Our lake house is located about 5 miles from here in Hide-A-Way. I just love small towns. If you go in to the little Brookshire's grocery store, the cashiers and checkers don't ask you if you need help out to your car,,,it's understood that you DO. No matter if you have one little package of bread, or a trunk load. You just don't find that in the city.
Lindale is the home town of Country Music Star, Miranda Lambert. I went inside what used to be one of my favorite antique stores, and it is now the Miranda Lambert Museum. I snapped a few photos for you with the permission of the attendant.
An autographed guitar.
She even has her on wine label. Look at the one called 'White Liar'. One of my favorite songs she sings, right behind 'The House That Built Me'.
Isn't she beautiful? So fun to see the museum. They have live bands on the weekends. I'd like to check it out sometime. Wouldn't it be fun if she made a surprise appearance?
Moving on down the road, I just snapped a lot of random shots of the town. It's grown a lot in the past few years, but it has not lost it's charm. I hope it never does.
I saw this sign and was ready to go in and buy one of the 'shur-nuff' rum cakes,,,,,
but, alas, there was a sign on the door, 'out to lunch, be back in an hour'. Darn! Next time.
Next stop, just down the road is my favorite fruit stand. They have the most beautiful flowers and inside the store, the freshest fruits and vegetables around. There are also locally canned jams, jellies, and vegetables. Yummy!
Here's a photo of the downtown area of Lindale. You can see how small and quaint it is.
Driving through the neighborhoods, I had to snap a few shots of the really cute homes that have been restored. They are so homey and cozy looking.
This sweet looking home has been abandoned but is on the market for sale. I hope someone comes along and restores it to its original beauty.
As I was headed back to the lake house on Highway 16, I passed by the rodeo grounds. I noticed that there were a bunch of American Flags waving on the site, which meant there was going to be a rodeo that weekend. I pulled in to check it out and saw a bunch of cowboys rounding up horses in the arena. I had to take photos. Doesn't this look like one of the old Marlboro cigarette commercials??
After a full afternoon of touring Lindale, I went back to my most favorite vacation spot. My lake house. I got my book, a glass of wine, took my shoes off, and mosied down to the dock to just chill. Perfect ending, to a perfect day, in a perfect setting.
