'Ladyfingers'

So,,,this is not my usual post, but here's another 'side' of me.  I LOVE projects and always have something going.  I even have my own tool box that Douglas is NOT allowed to use.  It has a padlock on it to keep him out.  We have a lake house in East Texas that had this really ugly green vinyl siding on it.  One day while Douglas was playing tennis with my brother-in-law, I started ripping off the siding as fast as I could, just in the garage area, so I could see what it looked like underneath.  Turns out there was some really nice wood siding (still green though) underneath.  I quickly applied a coat of stain before he came home 3 hours later so he could get a 'feel' for what it was going to look like.  When he got home, he just shook his head, like 'what is she doing NOW???'.  He actually liked it!  I ended up tearing the rest of the siding off and stained the whole house and I did it in 7 days. Here are some before and after shots of the house.  I had a blast doing this and am now trying to think of something else to tear in to.  Once upon a time I was going to start my own business as a 'fix-it' person and call the business 'Lady Fingers'. I even have a pink tool-kit.  Heck,,maybe I should post something on the bulletin boards at Home Depot.

  1. Diana, this just shows what a person can do, when one puts there mind to it...and the finished product is awesome !! Your my kind of woman...I, too love to take on a challenge...a few years back Tim was given a truck load of flag stone...it set piled in a stack behind Tim shop for too long...I got an idea early one morning...to lay it, at the back of our deck...I did...it took all day...none stop...the peices were so heavy, I had to roll them into place...this was after I took several ward tools and leveled a square, of 15ft.by 15ft...and then found a large bag of moss seed to put in the cracks...it turned out so pretty...Tim came home and was awe struck...AND that night it was my turn to have our Pokino monthly card game at my house...all 11 of them, as well, were like YOU did this AND TODAY ??? Honey...every muscle,bone...in this old girls body hurt for a week, my hands were cracked and dried,( the next day I had an apt. at my dermetologist, and she said my skin look like the stone, lol )...I fell asleep at my own pokino party, at dinning table...Ha!My daughter can put me, or any MAN under the table when it comes to this kind of thing...it just feels good to the soul...to take on, an accomplish a task this size. I'm very proud of you !! Beautiful !! And hey...you an I don't have 30 year old backs anymore...sooooo.
